Summary:
The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for new and existing products, projects, and processes across The H-J Family of Companies. This role involves detailed analysis of materials, labor, and processes, as well as ongoing support to Sales & Marketing, Production, Finance, and Purchasing. The Cost Estimator will also manage related ERP (EPICOR) tasks, support engineering change processes, and ensure cost data accuracy to drive informed business decisions.
Essential Functions
Prepare cost estimates for new business, PQIs, parts, and projects. Perform cost analysis on existing products and processes. Process ECNs, evaluating cost and operational impact. Maintain accurate BOMs, routers, and pricing in EPICOR ERP (EPICOR Kinetic a plus). Assign and review drafting work, read/interpret blueprints. Conduct time studies to verify machining and assembly rates. Create spreadsheets and reports for cost analysis.
Requirements
Cost estimating or manufacturing experience preferred. EPICOR ERP experience strongly preferred. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Drafting/CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar) a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods. May require occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs. Ability to work in both office and production floor environments as needed.
