Southern Virginia University is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Web Administrator to oversee the day-to-day management and upkeep of the university’s main website and affiliated subdomains, including sites for the catalog, library, news, events, and more. This IT-based role supports a consistent and accessible user experience across all platforms while ensuring content is accurate, on-brand, and up-to-date. While not a full-stack development position, the Web Administrator will serve as the primary internal steward of SVU’s web presence—managing CMS content, collaborating with campus stakeholders, coordinating with third-party developers, and implementing minor technical updates.

Responsibilities

Serve as the central administrator for SVU’s web ecosystem, including the main website and key subdomains.

Manage content updates, page builds, and routine maintenance using the university’s CMS.

Collaborate with university departments to gather, post, and organize web content.

Identify and correct content issues, broken links, and accessibility concerns.

Coordinate with external vendors or developers for advanced features, integrations, or troubleshooting.

Help select and implement a scalable, user-friendly CMS solution that supports decentralized content entry while maintaining quality control.

Establish and maintain standards for page layout, navigation, accessibility (WCAG), and branding.

Support occasional web-related training for department contributors or content owners.

Participate in planning and executing major web updates, audits, or migrations.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience managing websites using a CMS (WordPress, Webflow, Drupal, etc.).

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate and user-friendly content.

Ability to juggle multiple priorities across departments.

Eagerness to learn and problem-solve in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience coordinating vendor relationships or outsourced development.

Familiarity with web analytics, SEO, or accessibility standards.
