Brief Job Description The Training and Development Specialist (NF/ALF/DAHS/PPECC) serves as an advanced-level trainer and curriculum specialist within Long-term Care Regulation (LTCR). In this role, you will develop, deliver, and maintain curricula on state regulations and best practices to support LTC providers in Texas. You will also collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify training needs, refine existing training programs, and represent the department in planning sessions, workgroups, and committees. This position balances in-person and virtual instruction, requires up to 45% statewide overnight travel, and operates under a telework-friendly environment.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct Assigned Joint Training (50%) – Coordinate with the Training Manager to deliver in-person (up to 45% overnight travel) and virtual training programs related to LTCR programs. Engage with providers and external stakeholders to address questions, clarify expectations, and provide ongoing educational support.
Curriculum Development and Maintenance (30%) – Design, develop, and update training materials (e.g., presentations, handouts, guides) to remain current with changes in regulations and LTC industry standards. Evaluate existing training curricula, identify gaps, and recommend revisions or new activities to improve effectiveness. Serve as a consultant and curriculum specialist for LTCR-Joint Training, advising on best practices for adult learning, delivery modes, and emerging technologies/processes.
Program Planning and Training Needs Analysis (15%) – Participate in program planning to identify emerging training issues relevant to LTC regulations and develop strategies to address these needs. Assess and analyze training requirements, ensuring content and delivery methods are appropriate for both internal and external customers. Represent the department on workgroups and committees, offering subject matter expertise related to training initiatives and regulatory updates.

Registered Nurse (RN)- Current Texas Licensure- Preferred

Experience with regulatory long-term care surveys, preferred
Additional Information Position available statewide; candidate may reside anywhere within Texas. Corpus Christi or San Antonio greater area preferred for operational convenience.
