Rare Gas Technician I Location: East Chicago, IN Global Helium and Rare Gases is seeking a Rare Gas Technician to join our team located in East Chicago, IN. Responsibilities
Operate under routine supervision and perform tasks that are simple to moderately complex in nature. Set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment to ensure a safe, efficient work environment. Develop detailed technical knowledge of one or two major tasks (or general knowledge of many tasks) as part of the specialty. Use judgment to perform the job, follow general instructions, and recognize when to seek assistance for nonstandard occurrences and problems. Exercise some independent action, seeking advice from more senior technicians or engineers when deviations from the norm occur or more creativity is required. Commitment to personal safety and environmental accountability. Develop the skills required to operate complex refinery under minimal supervision. Develop an understanding of process equipment (e.g., compressors, turbines, distillation columns). Perform all work duties in compliance with the company policies. Fill cylinders and cryogenic dewars per established procedures. Operate in an ISO quality environment. Perform and be trained on IATA shipping training and documentation; produce domestic and international hazmat shipping documents. Ability to work alone and in a team environment. Willingness to accept occasional off-site and overnight assignments. Elevated work up to 75 feet. Qualifications
Education and Experience Required: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Skills Required: Self-starter who is available to work 24-hour rotations, weekends and overtime as needed. Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel. Hazardous Materials shipping experience a plus, including international shipping. Cylinder filling operations proficiency is a plus. Cryogenic separation knowledge is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships. Mechanically inclined. Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit or stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds.
