PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA)
to manage, maintain, and optimize mission-critical PostgreSQL databases. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security while supporting development and production environments across multiple systems. The Role
Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL database servers in production and non-production environments. Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies (query optimization, indexing, partitioning, etc.). Design and manage database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. Implement replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms for high availability and disaster recovery. Manage user access, security policies, and encryption to maintain compliance standards. Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support schema design, query optimization, and database deployment automation. Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide 24x7 on-call support when required. Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture, processes, and procedures. Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in large-scale enterprise environments. Strong knowledge of
PostgreSQL architecture , including WAL, replication, and partitioning. Experience with
performance tuning ,
query optimization , and
index management . Proficiency with
PL/pgSQL ,
functions ,
stored procedures , and
triggers . Familiarity with tools such as
pgAdmin ,
pgBackRest ,
Patroni ,
pgBouncer , or
pgPool-II . Experience managing databases on
AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL ,
Azure Database for PostgreSQL , or
GCP Cloud SQL
(preferred). Proficient in
Linux/Unix environments
and shell scripting. Working knowledge of
database monitoring
and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
migration from Oracle/MySQL to PostgreSQL . Familiarity with
CI/CD pipelines
and
infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) . Certifications in PostgreSQL or cloud database administration. We offer
