Job Overview:
A Columbus, OH-based law firm is partnering with a recruiting firm to identify a driven Litigation Associate to support its personal injury practice. The role involves handling complex litigation files from inception through trial, including direct client representation, case strategy development, and courtroom advocacy. The position is ideal for attorneys passionate about plaintiff-side advocacy who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Duties:
Advocate for clients in various stages of personal injury litigation Prepare and submit motions, pleadings, and discovery responses Conduct depositions of fact and expert witnesses Participate in mediation sessions, pre-trial matters, and court proceedings Present cases before juries in state court settings Manage select pre-litigation matters when necessary Interview clients and witnesses, compile evidence, and devise legal strategies Negotiate with insurers and opposing counsel to secure favorable outcomes Collaborate with litigation support teams, including investigators and legal staff Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on all case files Monitor and interpret legal developments impacting the practice area Requirements:
Juris Doctor from an accredited institution Admission to the Ohio Bar in good standing At least 1 year of experience focused on personal injury litigation 2-5 years total experience in plaintiff or defense personal injury work Proficiency in litigation procedures, including pleadings, discovery, and trial readiness Strong legal writing, analytical thinking, and advocacy skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadlines Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school Certifications (Preferred):
Memberships in organizations such as the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Association for Justice, or the American Association for Justice Skills:
Case strategy and legal research proficiency Oral and written advocacy in litigation settings Knowledge of motor vehicle and trucking accident claims Trial presentation and jury engagement Case management systems and legal documentation best practices Job Location:
