Summary of Job Duties The Monitor Technician is a trained member of the Heart Station Department. Monitor Technicians provide 24/7 EKG support for inpatient and the emergency department. The department focuses on aiding in the identification and prevention of acute medical events by providing 12 lead EKGs and MUSE management, and to help ensure patients receive the highest possible care. Monitor Technicians are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team approach at UAMS.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED, plus six (6) months direct patient care related experience.
Current certification or competency in EKG acquisition.
PCT certified within three (3) months of hire (training provided).
Must complete the dysrhythmia course within a 90-day evaluation period and maintain competency as a telemetry technician.
Excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability.
Must be able to lift 100 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
Current BLS.
Certification in the EKG or Dysrhythmia course.
Microsoft Office experience
EPIC EMR
Kronos
Responsibilities
Performs EKG on time.
Cleans EKG equipment after each patient use, maintains a clear electrocardiogram signal, and problem-solves interferences in the pattern.
Assign an overreader in MUSE.
Enters all patient information in Epic, EKG machine, and MUSE.
Other duties as assigned.
Salary Information Commensurate with education and experience.
