Job Description:

Pattern Systems Technician

Purpose This position is responsible for the definition and creation of all patterns into a usable pattern and marker. This position is also responsible for ensuring adequate and clear documentation is maintained to support the pattern generation requirements.

Responsibilities

Process orders by making patterns and markers for the manufacturing floor.

Determine the most efficient work flow for the cutting process by using the CAD system, sewing schedule and roll goods availability.

Develop R&D patterns as needed.

Execute and support the quality system and procedures in the effort for continuous improvement.

Work with other pattern personnel to ensure timely and consistent creation of patterns.

Document via project database any instance of absent pattern information on engineering or manufacturing systems documentation.

Coordinate necessary and adequate timelines for product changes and introductions with project teams.

Perform adequate testing and documenting of any new or changed patterns prior to implementation date.

Coordinate user testing of pattern system with manufacturing programmer and systems coordinator.

Assist manufacturing systems group to manage and develop the configuration module of the manufacturing system to ensure ease of integration to pattern software.

Maintain documentation required of pattern system changes in a consistent and systematic way.

Provide assistance to order engineering department in determining fabric and pattern requirements for non-standard product offerings in a timely and professional manner.

Actively pursue opportunities for pattern improvements, either through design, coding or manufacturing changes.

Respond and provide corrective action to address pattern errors on the production floor to reduce likelihood of reoccurrence.

Principal Accountabilities

Consistently meet the daily schedule for manufacturing and completing R&D patterns in a reasonable manner based on the current schedule.

Maintain pattern systems and project database in a consistent and timely fashion to ensure accuracy and alignment with engineering and manufacturing systems documentation.

Actively pursue proactive solutions to identified problems.

Ability to work with a variety of individuals with wide range of system and pattern knowledge in a positive and effective manner.

Education and/or Experience Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

General computer/keyboard skills. AutoCAD knowledge a plus.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to apply algebraic equations and geometry concepts by reading, analyzing and interpreting technical drawings.

Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
