The Accountant 2 provides professional accounting support to the Assistant Director of Accounting within the Faculty Practice Group’s Finance Department.
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, performing month-end close activities, and preparing internal and external reports that support operational and strategic decision‑making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger for the month‑end close process
Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to ensure timely and accurate data flow
Assist with monthly financial reporting and annual budget
Support the development of systems and processes to improve accounting accuracy and efficiency
Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned
Salary Range: $29.17 - $56.37 Hourly
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration or closely related field or a combination of equivalent education, training and experience
Two years of progressively accounting experience or equivalent is required
Working knowledge of University accounting policies and procedures and ability to read and understand University ledgers is highly preferred
Government accounting experience is preferred
Possess a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
Working knowledge of fund accounting and healthcare accounting is preferred
Written communication skills to prepare clear and concise correspondence at a level appropriate for the intended audience
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff within the Accounting department, with other office personnel and with outside departments.
Knowledge of management reporting and financial statement preparation.
Skill in keying data into the existing computer system accurately and quickly.
Ability to set and adjust priorities to meet recurring deadlines
Ability to work independently and follow through assignments
Demonstrated skill in financial analysis
Demonstrated ability to reconcile departmental records to system reports
Ability to comply with Departmental Financial Policies and Procedural manual
