The Tax Team at ByteDance helps ensure that our company and all our products are tax compliant throughout different regions and countries. Also, the Tax Team provides support to internal requests and works with multiple different stakeholders to support product and business launches and new features. ByteDance seeks an Indirect Tax Manager to join our Tax Department and support our international digital and e-commerce expansion efforts. The Indirect Tax Manager will manage daily tax operations, including indirect tax compliance, legislative onboarding, and supporting new product launches. Additionally, this role will involve assisting with tax audits, supporting tax controversies, and contributing to various projects as needed to meet the requirements of business partners and the department. Responsibilities

Manage a variety of recurring and non-recurring indirect tax functions including review of tax returns, analysis, and lead day-to-day indirect tax compliance operations and filings for U.S. jurisdictions. Maintain indirect tax calendar internally and manage external service providers on tax compliance to ensure timely accurate reporting and remittance. Identify and document compliance process enhancements. Assist with project work across various activities, including business advisory, system implementation, financial reporting, product launches, and tax research. Develop indirect tax operational process improvements, focusing on controls, automation, efficiency, and analytics. Perform tax accounts review and reconciliation, working closely with Finance Business Partners, AR, AP, and GL Accounting teams. Assist with the preparation of data collection for monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax compliance as needed. Review tax returns prepared by team members and outsourcing vendors. Support in taxability analysis for launching new products and features. Support complex multi-state tax audits and issues. Work with other Tax and Technology teams across regions to identify, create, and implement globally scalable processes and solutions. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Taxation, Accounting or any other related field. 5 years of indirect state and tax experience in a public accounting firm, Government, and/or US multinational company with a focus in sales/use taxes. Have strong technical knowledge in U.S. Indirect Tax, especially in Sales and Use Tax. Preferred Qualifications Relevant industry experience in handling U.S. Indirect Tax in technology and e-commerce companies is a plus. Ability to communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly, collaborates effectively, and can work independently and solve problems while motivating and influencing others. The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $91,200 - $205,168 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location.
