Overview
Equity Research Analyst – Natural Resources at Voya Investment Management within the Fundamental Equity investment team covering the Natural Resources complex (Energy, Materials and Utilities). The Analyst is responsible for security selection for mid- and large-cap companies across Value and Growth strategies. The Analyst researches new ideas and conducts maintenance research on current holdings via data synthesis, financial analysis and engagement with the broader investment ecosystem (i.e., company management, sell-side analysts, industry consultants, etc.). The Analyst will drive the stock selection process across Natural Resources in conjunction with the team of portfolio managers. Responsibilities
Security selection for mid- and large-cap companies across Value and Growth strategies. Research new ideas and maintain research on current holdings using data synthesis and financial analysis; engage with company management, sell-side analysts, industry consultants, and other stakeholders. Drive the stock selection process for Natural Resources in collaboration with portfolio managers. Develop and communicate investment ideas tailored to the investment philosophies of each strategy; base ideas on comprehensive industry and company research from public documents, annual reports, trade journals, networking with industry contacts, and interviews with senior management. Be aware of how evolving economic conditions and market dynamics affect performance of portfolio and non-portfolio companies across Energy, Materials and Utilities. Effectively communicate, explain and defend buy and sell ideas to Fundamental Equity portfolio managers. Contribute to alpha generation and influence on portfolios. Qualifications
At least 7-10 years of fundamental equity research; experience with relative benchmark investing at a buy-side long-only platform. Deep knowledge across Energy, Materials and Utilities sectors. Ability to move quickly on new idea generation and maintenance of existing ideas. Demonstrable track record of success in stock selection. Willingness to be fully empowered and own investment performance outcomes. Strong communication skills; ability to communicate in a timely and investment-relevant manner. Understanding of financial statements and models. Ability to work well in a team environment. BA/BS; MBA and/or CFA is a plus. Compensation
Base salary range: $250,000 - $275,000 USD. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (annual cash incentives, long-term incentives) based on role and performance. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level; salaries for part-time roles prorated based on hours. What We Offer
