Fiber Outside Plant (OSP) Technician to install, maintain, and repair fiber optic cable and related equipment in outdoor environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fiber optics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
Installation: Install and splice fiber optic cables in underground and aerial environments; ensure proper placement and termination according to industry standards. Fiber Outages/Maintenance: Respond to and troubleshoot fiber outages to minimize downtime; conduct regular maintenance checks of fiber optic infrastructure. Project Oversight: Oversee Enterprise and Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) projects, coordinate installation schedules and resources with project managers. Training: Provide training and mentorship to new technicians and contractors; develop training materials and standard operating procedures. Testing & Quality Control: Perform testing on installed systems using OTDRs, power meters, and other equipment; implement quality control measures to meet standards and client expectations. Safety Compliance: Follow safety regulations, use PPE appropriately, and handle tools and equipment safely. Collaboration: Work with project managers, engineers, and teammates; communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders about project status and issues. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in fiber optics preferred. Proven experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance. Knowledge of OSP construction practices and standards. Familiarity with splicing techniques and testing equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed. Physical Demands
The role requires climbing and working at heights, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in outdoor environments in all types of weather conditions. Disclaimer
