Location & Hybrid Position based in our Charleston, SC corporate office and is hybrid, with three days per week in office.
What You’ll Do
Drive internal sustainability initiatives across the organization, focusing on emissions reduction, waste reduction, and efficient water and energy usage, and support progress toward science‑based emission‑reduction targets and renewable energy goals.
Partner with local operations, sales personnel, and corporate leaders to educate personnel on environmental compliance behaviors, create environmental solutions to support business needs, identify environmental risks, and develop strategies to minimize their impacts.
Support ESG and reporting by collecting and calculating data for key reports, including the annual CSR Report and GHG emissions reporting, coordinating responses to sustainability questionnaires and customer inquiries, and developing new solutions for tracking and measuring carbon emissions and sustainability data.
Ensure regulatory and compliance awareness and advise on compliance and reporting obligations.
What We’re Looking For
5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
A passion for sustainability and ESG‑related topics.
Applied knowledge of sustainability concepts, including GHG emissions, climate and ecosystem health, circular economy, and product transparency.
Outstanding team player, sense of humor, intellectual curiosity.
Ability to create a clear story out of complex data.
Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
Moderate to high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
Availability to travel up to 20% of the time.
Must be authorized to work for Sonepar in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Strongly Preferred
A major in Sustainability Studies, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or a similar field.
Knowledge of key sustainability certifications and databases.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility programs, Inventory Management Plans, US and EU regulatory frameworks, and climate risk assessments.
