Responsibilities
You will be responsible for coding diagnoses and procedures for assigned cases.
Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes for patients serviced, and correctly assign DRGs to assure accurate reimbursement and high-quality data.
Abstract all coded data in a timely and accurate manner into the abstracting system.
Apply knowledge of UCLA Health guidelines including AHA Coding Clinic and AMA CPT Assistant where applicable, along with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathology.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines and use of related coding references.
Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and the pathological basis of disease.
Experience coding diagnoses and procedures and abstracting data in an abstracting system.
Ability to ensure timely, accurate coding and correct DRG assignment for reimbursement and data quality.
