The Utilities Supervisor will oversee all facility utility activities to ensure maximum operational potential is achieved across the plant operation. The role spans maintenance business management, material inventory, manufacturing process reliability, equipment reliability, and technical skills management of electrical, electronics, controls programming, mechanical systems, waste treatment, building and grounds, and utilities systems including boiler and ammonia refrigeration. The supervisor will develop, coordinate and execute maintenance‑related capital budget items in partnership with engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Direct utilities personnel to ensure systems operate at highest capability to meet production schedules, quality, cost, and schedule priorities.

Improve reliability, maintenance and processing methods to reduce cost and avoid production loss from equipment failure.

Determine equipment capabilities, safety and operational condition in coordination with other supervisors and technicians.

Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures that extend equipment life.

Implement continuous process improvement through equipment upgrades and modifications.

Develop, implement and review site‑specific maintenance logs for the department.

Coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with company procedures, best practices and financial considerations.

Provide training on maintenance logs and routine maintenance for facility equipment.

Assist workers in diagnosing machinery malfunctions.

Study production schedules and estimate worker‑hour requirements for job assignments.

Assist with requisition and inventory of spare parts.

Maintain departmental operating budget within a positive variance.

Assist with safety training, monthly safety meetings, safety committee membership, and technical support for safety projects.

Evaluate long‑term needs for major projects and factory improvements.

Ensure equipment and facility are safe and operable, arrange for replacement/upgrades.

Establish procedures and contacts for timely equipment repairs.

Direct workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic utility systems maintenance and repair.

Direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.

Assist with developing employee relations through communication and safety meetings.

Analyze production downtime reports, determine opportunities and initiate actions to increase efficiencies.

Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in developing procedures and corrective actions.

Oversee and lead implementation of the QRMP system and operational standards to achieve targeted RCR.

Assist and partner with business leaders on process improvement initiatives (Six Sigma / Lean / KHMS).

Assist with supervision of utilities staff including performance management and employee development.

Communicate with outside agencies, contractors, equipment suppliers, technical consultants and vendors.

Coordinate with Maintenance Manager, other supervisors, team members and Human Resources.

Monitor and record utility usage throughout the plant and report trends to ESG teams.

Oversee and assist with the PSM/RMP program and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA.

Oversee and assist with operations of the WWTP and ensure compliance with city and EPA regulations.

Assist with facility landscaping requirements and snow removal.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field (strongly preferred).

Minimum 1–5 years of related leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (required).

Familiarity with maintenance management system operations.

Experience implementing and maintaining TPM systems (strongly preferred).

Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems including ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems (plus).

Knowledge of direct and overhead cost systems.

Experience troubleshooting and programming Allen Brady PLCs (plus).

Flexible schedule to include days, afternoons, midnights, and weekend work (required).

Salary Base salary range: $77,800.00 – $97,300.00. This position is eligible for a performance‑based bonus as provided by the plan terms.
