Wachter is accepting applications for Low Voltage Project Technicians for short and long-term project work at various retail locations supporting the local area of Charleston, WV. The position is full-time/permanent with a nice complement of benefits for the right individual. Candidates should have experience with blueprints, and installation standards for all forms of structured cabling, closet build-outs, and cable certification is necessary.
We seek self-motivated and reliable technicians for service and special installation projects, who can work independently and find solutions to complete the job. Requirements:
2-5 years experience as a Low Voltage Cable Technician. Demonstrated experience leading teams of technicians on multi-week projects Available and willing for extensive travel nationwide. Ability to work primarily night shifts Flexible and willing to work on-call, day, night, weekend, or overtime shifts as the job requires Able to lead small teams (2 to 3 people) Strong knowledge of industry standards (BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA) Industry-specific certifications (BICSI, Systimax, Panduit, Beldon, Corning) are a huge plus Capable of reading blueprints and site maps Experience in CCTV, voice, Fire Alarm, and data cabling is a plus Experience pulling and terminating CAT5/CAT6 cabling and installation of small equipment (switches/brides/cameras). Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written Ability to consistently complete projects within budget, on time, and in a safe manner Proficient with the use of computers, including email, spreadsheets, PDF documentation, and databases Microsoft Office programs Must be comfortable working unsupervised and also effectively communicating and collaborating with teams of 4 to 20 other technicians. Knowledgeable in identifying independent colors and learning color codes Able to neatly dress and terminate large bundles of cables inside IDF and MDF cabinets Must have strong interpersonal skills; this position frequently requires customer and General Contract interactions Ability to work in cramped spaces Ability to operate a BOOM or scissor lift (19'); and to work at heights Has basic telecommunication tools, all industry hand tools, and PPE Reliable transportation with required insurance coverage Must have knowledge of cabling infrastructure Experience in conduit installation is a plus Execute advanced troubleshooting skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the last three years
Responsibilities:
Install, troubleshoot, and maintenance of various structured cabling systems including fiber, Cat5, and Cat6 in retail environments Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work Ensure all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations Assist with pre-installation opportunities by designing and planning technical solutions Install cable support structures such as j-hooks pathways, cable racks, and innerduct Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational Troubleshoot issues with the cable network Perform any other duties not specifically stated herein, but which your supervisor may assign Maintain the company’s high standard of quality and professionalism with regard to workmanship, customer relations, coworkers, behavior, and appearance.
