Overview
Conservation Enforcement Specialist 1, 2 or 3 is a full‑time position located in the Engineering‑Regulatory Division/Monroe District within the Office of Conservation in Monroe, Louisiana. The incumbent conducts advanced technical inspections of drilling, completion, production, and site restoration activities related to oil and gas operations, enforces state regulations, and protects environmental resources. Responsibilities
Perform onsite inspections of drilling operations, wellheads, BOPs, accumulators, and production facilities to ensure compliance with Office of Conservation rules and applicable law. Inspect oilfield production and storage facilities to verify adequate containment structures and firewalls. Witness plug and abandonment of oil and gas wells, ensuring procedure compliance for protection of the environment and underground water sources. Interface with field representatives of federal and state agencies on investigations concerning improper discharge of non‑hazardous waste, theft of equipment, and environmental damage. Ensure safety prevention equipment is properly installed, working, and tested according to regulations. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Three years of experience in petroleum exploration, production, gas handling, or distribution; or experience in natural resources regulation, enforcement, law enforcement, or investigative work. A bachelor’s degree in a biological, physical, natural, geoscience, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, or nuclear science. Knowledge of Louisiana state and federal oil and gas well construction, drilling, completion, production, and site restoration programs. Strong communication, learning, and data‑analysis skills.
