Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced and meticulous Payroll Analyst with extensive expertise in both ADP and Workday platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely processing of multi-state payrolls for a diverse employee base. The role requires a deep understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and system functionalities, coupled with analytic, problem-solving, and communication skills. The Payroll Analyst will play a critical role in optimizing payroll processes, ensuring data integrity, and providing outstanding support to employees.

Responsibilities

Payroll Processing & Reconciliation:

Process accurate and timely bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and/or monthly multi-state payrolls for all employee types (hourly, salaried, commission-based) using ADP Workforce Now and Workday Payroll.

Verify and reconcile payroll data, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, taxes, and garnishments, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Manage and process payroll inputs from various sources, including HRIS, timekeeping systems, and benefit providers.

Perform pre- and post-payroll audits to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts monthly and prepare relevant journal entries.

System Management & Optimization:

Act as a subject matter expert for both ADP (specifically Workforce Now) and Workday Payroll modules, understanding end-to-end process flows and interdependencies.

Configure, maintain, and update payroll system settings, including earnings, deductions, tax codes, and reporting structures, to reflect current policies and regulations.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex payroll system issues, working closely with HRIS, IT, and vendors as needed.

Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements within both ADP and Workday, recommending and implementing solutions.

Assist with the testing and implementation of system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations.

Compliance & Reporting:

Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, EEO-1).

Ensure all payroll processes and procedures are in compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements.

Prepare and submit accurate and timely payroll tax filings (941s, W-2s, SUI, etc.) and other required governmental reports.

Generate various payroll reports for finance, HR, and management as requested.

Support internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll data and documentation.

Employee Support & Communication:

Provide excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries, deductions, direct deposit, and W-2 questions.

Educate employees on payroll policies and procedures.

Communicate effectively with HR, benefits, and finance departments to resolve cross-functional payroll issues.

Ad Hoc Projects:

Participate in special projects related to payroll system implementations, mergers/acquisitions, or process improvements.

Develop and update payroll documentation, policies, procedures.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in payroll processing for a multi-state organization.

Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now.

Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll, including configuration, processing, and reporting.

Certifications (Preferred): Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).

Compensation Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience. Compensation Range: $80,000—$90,000 USD.
