AIG . As the Assistant Manager for Property Lines Puerto Rico, you will play a crucial role in driving profitable growth, maintaining strong relationships with brokers, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service. Responsibilities
Support Head of Global Property Puerto Rico with senior management information requests, such as reports, business drivers, quarterly business reviews, strategies, among others. Support Head of Global Property Puerto Rico to drive continuous professional development of the Property team and internal/external trainings required. Manage and develop junior underwriting team. Support team in making business decisions that leverage their expertise and experience in combination with analytical models. Ensure the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained by Property team members. Actively source business opportunities and underwrite Property accounts on a direct and facultative basis, as per Business Plan objectives. Analyze, prepare, define structure, place and negotiate facultative reinsurance either directly or through reinsurance brokers, adhering to reinsurance and underwriting policies and procedures. Support team in escalation and negotiation of internal referrals based on technical and commercial arguments, as needed. Support Head of Global Property Puerto Rico with development, monitoring and influence the deployment of Property underwriting strategy, P&L, product development, executing upon agreed strategies. Perform file peer reviews and support Head of Global Property Puerto Rico in the preparation and management of internal audits, and implementation of action plans derived from them. Drive underwriting excellence across the business by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy. Collaborate with Distribution, Executive, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers and ceding companies. Develop strong, long term relationships with brokers and clients to profitable grow a book of business. Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients. Support in the preparation of commercial presentations, marketing material and other initiatives as the business requires. Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusion. Work with Distribution, Claims, Finance, Operational, Compliance and Legal teams to support portfolio management functions. Support in the generation and analysis of key performance indicators, including but not limited to monitoring of submission flow, effectiveness ratios, analysis of losses/claims behaviors, among others. Maintain updated underwriting files based on corporate guidelines. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Preference is in business administration (Finance, Accounting or Risk Management); or Master’s Degree; or a combination of university and years of experience. This role suits candidates that already have a broad and solid exposure to underwriting concepts and decision making criteria, similar experience with the job responsibilities, including managing people. Demonstrated business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills with strong problem-solving abilities. Extensive direct and facultative Property underwriting experience in Puerto Rican market, with expert technical underwriting background in Property. Desirable experience in Property facultative reinsurance across the Caribbean. Proven track record of delivering profitable growth in Property portfolios. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English and Spanish. Strong business acumen, with a proven track record of making sound judgement backed by strong analytical, quantitative, process and systems skills. Strategic and result oriented, managing vision and purpose. Strong influencing and communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively and manage stakeholders effectively in a matrix structure. Experience working with Catastrophe models (RMS, AIR and similar) is preferred. Proficient in the use of MS Office suite products, especially Excel (a must) and Word, Adobe. Benefits
