Job Description Financial Reporting Specialist – DENSO Japan North America

Responsibilities

Manages the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial consolidation process for entities in North America

Prepares monthly income and balance sheet statements and various other financial information

Analyzes, reconciles and verifies the accuracy of accounting and financial information in a timely manner

Acts as a liaison between internal departments and affiliates in order to resolve outstanding issues; assists with determining applicability of newly issued IFRS pronouncements and for providing other statutory guidance; functions as a technical expert and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues and affiliate personnel

Maintains process activities; leads continuous improvement activities for controlling processes such as intercompany, monthly, and quarterly reporting

Updates current NA policies and procedures and assists with training across the region

Maintains adherence to North America and global reporting policies, procedures, and deadlines

Acts as a liaison for DENSO Japan and provides direction to all North American companies on internal reporting directives

Provides supporting documentation for Deloitte inquiries during the external review/audit process; assists with the internal audit process and ensures adherence to all J‑Sox procedures

Conducts technical accounting research and drafts whitepapers as required

Works on special projects related to financial reporting

Acts as a mentor to less experienced personnel

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

5+ Years of experience in Accounting or a related field

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

Experience working with IFRS accounting standards preferred

Experience with Financial Reporting Systems preferred

Strong Technical skills with Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Skills and Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills to discuss or transmit primarily factual information to internal and external customers in the normal course of performing duties

Strong analytical skills to investigate, interpret, and reconcile information from several distinct sources in situations where conclusions or resolutions are discernible

Customer service skills to display a service‑oriented attitude in addressing and responding to customer issues

Advanced understanding of accounting principles

Strong knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS

Advanced knowledge of financial statements and general ledgers

Advanced knowledge of financial systems and software (Oracle EPM experience a plus)

Project management skills

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork

Ability to embrace and manage change

Kaizen mindset and a demonstrated ability to apply the PDCA process

Must also possess an understanding of current accounting operational structure (financial close, gross profit, J‑SOX, etc.)
