Position Summary

The

Clinical Data Specialist

will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for a broad range of laboratory clinical and R&D based activities. A major responsibility for this role will be to perform clinical report review prior to their delivery to physicians and patients, which requires an understanding of the underlying processes and data used to produce the reports. This position is largely a technical role that participates in the development and maintenance of data warehousing, analysis, and delivery pipelines as well as analytics tools for internal data users and clinical data ingestion from external partners.

This position will interact regularly with nearly every group at the Buffalo, NY lab and occasionally with groups across the greater Labcorp Enterprise Oncology division.

Qualifications

Proficient at working independently and within a small team environment on multiple concurrent projects. Python development experience. Experience querying relational databases. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and results-oriented environment. Strong written and verbal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Biological or Physical Sciences. Experience in an oncology-related field, specifically related to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. Engineering content retrieval, parsing, and RDBMS (MySQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB) queries/solutions. Biomedical vocabularies relevant to cancer, molecular biology, and drug discovery. Experience software development life cycle.

Essential Duties

Perform reviews on clinical reports and design/develop new and/or updated features for proprietary automatic review software. Participate in the development and maintenance of our data warehouse and analytics dashboards available to internal users. Function as a point of contact for data requests and delivery. Assimilate complex technical concepts and be capable of effectively communicating those concepts to audiences of varying levels of expertise. Participate in cross functional analytic activities, including developing programmatic solutions for complex data requests for organization goals of reports, peer-reviewed publications, meeting abstracts/presentations, and other milestones.

Education

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Biological or Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Bioinformatics. Master’s degree preferred.

Pay Range:

$90,000 - $100,000 annually (USD)

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
