Clark County
The Clark County Special Public Defender's Office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief Deputy Public Defender. While working in a collaborative team environment, this attorney will provide zealous legal representation to individuals charged with category A felonies such as capital murder, murder, and sexual assault. May serve as Team Chief, supervising a team of attorneys and support staff.

Possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of Nevada and eligibility to practice law before Nevada courts, AND eight (8) years of legal experience, including four (4) years as a practicing attorney, OR five (5) years as a Deputy Public Defender in Clark County's Public Defender's or Special Public Defender's Offices. Supervises attorneys; provides training; assigns cases; reviews cases and settlements; evaluates performance. Provides legal advice on specialized issues. Oversees cases and attorneys; supervises defense in criminal, juvenile, and dependency cases; offers legal counsel; conducts case evaluations. Handles complex cases, including family defense, felony, capital murder, juvenile, dependency, and high-profile cases. Negotiates case dispositions; performs legal research and litigation in complex areas. Dictates legal documents and reports. Contributes to team efficiency and effectiveness. Maintains records and reports; uses standard office equipment. May require driving to off-site locations for legal business. Physical requirements include mobility in an office setting, vision for reading, hearing and speech for communication, and ability to stand for periods.
