Position Summary The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) at the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Denver is looking to hire adjunct instructors to teach courses in topics including but not limited to: Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, and Materials Science. This posting will serve for multiple openings. Winter Quarter runs from January to March (approximately) Spring quarter runs from March to June (approximately) Summer Quarter runs from June to August (approximately) Essential Functions Teach in person two to three times per week (depending on course) Design a new course or adapt an existing course. This includes learning outcomes, support materials, and a course calendar Create and maintain a Canvas course container Assign papers, exams, projects, labs, and other deliverables, as appropriate Grade in a timely manner Hold office hours and meet with students, over Zoom or in person, to discuss grades, assignments and/or project status Work with students and others to guarantee the best possible student experience Attend quarterly school meetings and monthly faculty meetings, if requested to do so Required Qualifications Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Previous teaching experience A commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment Preferred Qualifications PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Experience with best practices including active learning and inclusive teaching Work Schedule While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on theregistrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a differentacademic calendar ). Course Rate Adjunct faculty are compensated at a rate of $6,067-$10,000 per course for standard courses in the MME department dependent on type of course and experience of candidate. Pay for summer courses is based on enrollment. If you are selected to teach for summer, you will be informed of the summer pay scale at that time. Enrollment below 3 deems that the class should be canceled and no teaching, nor compensation will be allowed. PLEASE NOTE:
Teaching the undergraduate and graduate section of the same course counts as a single course load and you will be compensated $6,067-$10,000 total for both sections.

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range.
