We are recruiting for the following position:Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization**Position Summary**The ECEAP Teacher II is responsible for planning and carrying out activities for an assigned classroom. Sea Mar is an advocate for its clients and aims to achieve industry-leading, client centered, culturally-aware services.Sea Mar employees serve as an extension of this mission and demonstrate their commitment to an excellent client experience by:* Understanding and empathizing with client needs* Surpassing client expectations* Demonstrating a high level of integrity* Exhibiting compassion and commitment* Advocating for social justice* Taking pride in individual work as well as that of the team* Continually learning to stay current with industry standards, best practices and technologyAs a Sea Mar employee, the individual in this position commits to adherence to these values to their utmost ability and endeavors to strengthen and embody this mission daily.**ESSENTIAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**The responsibilities and duties of Teacher II include but are not limited to the following:* Planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and programming including the writing of weekly lesson plans.* Develop an anti-bias culturally relevant curriculum.* Setting up the environment to meet and challenge the changing needs of the children and to stimulate curiosity.* Responsibility for setting the tone for and maintaining classroom discipline.* Demonstrate verbally and by role modeling a sound knowledge of good teaching practices and of child growth and development.* Maintain a safe, clean and pleasant environment.* Tend to the physical care, safety and wellbeing of all the children in the group.* Participate in staff meeting discussions regarding the program activities.* Provide information to parents regarding their children as well as general child development information.* Input children’s weekly observations into Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG).* Participate in Sea Mar sponsored and /or community events.* Actively participate in the Intergenerational Program through, daily greetings and departures with Home Care Residents, full engagement between the children and residents this includes thoroughly planned activities that are developmentally appropriate for both children and residents.* Perform other duties as assigned.**Qualifications**The Teacher II will have an understanding of children growth and development and the ability to apply this understanding through planning activities, areas and materials that encourage the children in problem solving and independent play. Teacher II must have the ability to instruct other adults and to work with all children in an appropriate manner. Must be willing to accept supervision and maintain positive relationships with children, co-workers and parents. Must have the ability to meet the social and emotional, physical and developmental needs of the children, maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and possess knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aid. Must be able to observe and document children’s behavior and maintain children’s educational records. Teacher II must possess skills, awareness and willingness to work effectively with children and families with special needs and disabilities. This person must also have a willingness to read, to learn and to increase his/her own understanding of child development workshops, classes and study.**LANGUAGE SKILLS:*** Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.* Must possess the ability to read and understand Early Children Education journals and reports.* Must have ability to respond to common inquires or concerns from families.**MATHEMETICAL SKILLS:*** Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.**REASONING ABILITY:*** Must be able to apply common sense understanding in carrying out detailed written and / or oral instructions.**Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Medical Screening****EDUCATION AND TRAINING*** BA in Early Childhood Education or related field required.* Within the first 6 months of employment employee must obtain 30 hours STARS training mandated by the Department of Early Learning.* Attend annual ECEAP trainings.* Must complete HIV and Child Abuse and Neglect training as required.* Teacher II must have experience with and the ability to relate to children and families from* diverse racial and economic backgrounds.**CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, RESISTRATIONS*** Must have and maintain current Food Handlers Permit, and take required annual TB test.* This position must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire date and is required to maintain current BLS CPR throughout employment.**Work Environment**The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of Teacher II in a child development center.
