SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises, interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness in critically ill patients. The APP promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury. They practice autonomously and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to treat and manage patient health problems. The role includes direct patient and family care, consultation, research, advocacy for patients, families, groups, and communities to holistically address complex care needs. The APP serves as a member of the ICU team with primary responsibility for managing a caseload of critically ill patients under the supervision of the ICU supervising physician.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse or a Master’s Degree as a Physician Assistant from the National Board of Medical Examiners or the Academy of Physician Assistants required.
Two (2) or more years of experience as a critical care nurse or two (2) years serving as a Physician Assistant.
Current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse is required for NPs.
Current Georgia authorization/certification as an NP Advanced Practice Registered Professional Nurse is required.
Specialization in critical care services for in-patient settings as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
