Greenhouse Manager
Responsibilities:
Oversees and coordinates all aspects of growing quality annuals, perennials, and finished plants. Supports and supervises three primary production areas: plant propagation, production logistics, and growing. Tasks include the following:
Propagation
Coordinate the timely seeding and propagation of plant material according to the Production Plan and General Manager.
Evaluate germination and plant mortality for feedback and improvement.
Production Logistics
Coordinate the transplanting of plant materials from plugs into final products, per the Production Plan.
Plan and coordinate the availability of soil, pots, trays, tools, and chemicals needed for production.
Communicate needs with the General Manager to ensure consistent stocking and supply.
Manage the crop from transplant to order picking, including watering, trimming, spacing, and other crop-specific tasks.
Coordinate the picking of plants for retail, wholesale, and fundraiser orders to ensure timely delivery.
Ensure vegetative material and seeds are received and cared for until planting.
Coordinate unloading of trucks and organization of plant materials.
Growing
Coordinate timely applications of growth products, fertilizers, and pest management tools.
Conduct regular checks of pest measurement tools and schedules for spraying.
Evaluate new products, plant materials, and crop management techniques with the General Manager.
Maintain documentation of pesticide use, REIs, signage, MSDS sheets, etc.
Train staff on safety protocols for pesticide use.
Additional Responsibilities
Provide regular feedback on production and personnel needs.
Assist in onboarding and training new employees.
Optimize labor and space utilization.
Maintain strong organizational skills and understanding of crop flow.
Set the pace for handling, moving, and shipping products.
Coordinate and supervise labor and maintenance needs.
Update plant layout maps and prepare employee schedules.
Attributes:

Effective communication skills.
Requirements:
Must be 21+ years old.
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Experience with large equipment or willingness to learn.
Fast learner with basic customer service skills.
Comfortable working at heights and on ladders.
Pesticide Applicator’s License or willingness to obtain one.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Horticulture degree or related education preferred but not required.
