The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States, 87101
Position Summary
A postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Laura Gonzalez Bosc, Vascular Physiology Group, Department of Cell Biology and Physiology, School of Medicine, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, USA. The project investigates the role of collagen V-specific Th17 cells in the pathogenesis of chronic hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension. This work integrates pulmonary vascular physiology with immunology to uncover novel mechanisms driving disease progression. We are seeking a highly motivated and curious postdoctoral fellow who values team science, is eager to learn new techniques, and is not afraid to ask questions. Techniques and approaches include: Genetically modified mouse models Multi-color flow cytometry Immunofluorescence and live fluorescence confocal microscopy Precision-cut lung slices Co-culture systems (pulmonary smooth muscle cells and T cells) Ex vivo pulmonary artery cannulation to assess arterial diameter and calcium signaling Gene and protein expression analysis (real-time PCR and Western blot) Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree by date of hire. Applicants must be eligible to work in the US. Preferred Qualifications: A background in pulmonary physiology, biomedical sciences, or cell biology. Experience with mouse models, cell culture, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques. A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
