Overview

As a HS Social Studies Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines; establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents; and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a solid educational foundation, in accordance with each student's ability. How You Will Impact Education

Instruction/Education Responsibilities Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the company\'s philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study. Develops purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task. Presents subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunities with real-world, application-based examples. Reviews student records to understand each student\'s abilities and needs and maintains accurate and complete student records. Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student. Utilizes a variety of student learning modalities and differentiated instruction within lessons. Uses diagnostic assessment of student learning on a frequent basis. Assesses student strengths and weaknesses regularly and generates progress reports as required. Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel. Assigns lessons, corrects work, and reviews oral presentations. Coordinates class field trips as required. Prepares students for state-required achievement assessments. Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; shares knowledge for curriculum improvement. Assists in the on-going curriculum revision process and in the selection of instructional materials. Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities. Classroom Environment Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests. Maintains positive rapport with students; demonstrates patience and appropriate nurturing. Ensures classroom is clean, safe, and displays student work as appropriate. Implements all relevant policies governing student conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior in accordance with CSUSA policy and guidelines, and maintains order fairly and consistently. Instructional Planning Develops lesson plans aligned with established guidelines and goals. Plans individual and group activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs. Prepares for classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request. Participates with other staff in curriculum planning during designated meetings. Incorporates diagnostic information from IEPs into planning as required. Takes precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed to implement the planned program. School/Community Relations Strives to establish cooperative relations and communicates with parents/guardians when appropriate. Communicates clearly, consistently and positively with parents via appropriate channels. Cooperates with administration, staff and CSUSA. Maintains confidentiality regarding student records. Participates in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities as required to support positive school culture. Required Qualifications and Skills Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the position and the CSUSA mission; supports the company values in academic excellence, operational performance, culture, and growth as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, the community, and administrative staff; sensitive to corporate needs and public image. Excellent interpersonal skills and professional, helpful demeanor. Excellent communication skills: oral, written, interpersonal, negotiating and influencing. Reliability: consistent attendance, on-time performance, ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction. Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS) and email communications. Attention to quality and thoroughness; commitment to best practices and positive character education. Job Requirements May perform other duties assigned. Work Environment Usual school working conditions; may be noisy during high student traffic. Physical Demands No physical exertion required; somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity. Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects. FLSA Overtime Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
