Position
The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to one of several departments within the store, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial. The Clerk promotes sales, answers customer questions, handles special orders, and practices safe food handling while maintaining a clean, safe work area. The Clerk receives, inspects, and logs products for shipment accuracy and quality, and stocks, rotates, and merchandises to maintain freshness and department appeal.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Center Store/Front End – Operate the check-stand per policy; memorize PLU codes; order, receive, unload, stock and rotate products; merchandise and perform POS and inventory activities
Produce – Receive, inspect, log products; trim, wash, and wrap produce; stock, rotate, and merchandise; maintain floral area; keep areas and equipment clean
Meat/Seafood – Receive, inspect, log products; weigh, wrap/package, label; stock, rotate, merchandise; provide customer service at seafood counter; take special orders; operate slicers and wrappers; keep areas clean
Bakery/Deli – Receive, inspect, log products; prepare, weigh, package, label; stock, rotate, merchandise; take special orders; operate ovens, proofers, slicers, mixers; keep areas clean
Janitorial – Maintain cleanliness and sanitation; sweep/mop floors and areas; clean restrooms, break room, and front/back areas; empty trash; may operate janitorial equipment
Duties Included In All Departments
Sweep and mop sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas
May operate forklift if authorized and certified
May operate baler if authorized
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills
Ability to work with a sense of urgency and self-motivation
Proactive, initiative, enthusiastic, and flexible on the job
Education : High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or additional job experience
Experience : Six months of related experience
Other : Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours; must be at least 18 years of age
Physical : Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis; requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance
