Overview
The University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences seeks a faculty member for a full-time position in the subspecialty of Oculofacial Surgery. Appointment may be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level and on either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track, commensurate with clinical experience and research interests. The position involves clinical and surgical activity at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics main campus and the Iowa River Landing Ambulatory site. Department and training context
The department currently supports 18 residents and 6 first-year interns in the Ophthalmology training program, with fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Neuro Ophthalmology, Cornea, Oculoplastics, and Retina. The department has an active clinical research program supported by a trials team and institutional resources. The University of Iowa Institute for Vision Research hosts researchers focused on curing blindness. Education and Qualifications
Medical doctorate (MD) or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution. Graduation from a fully accredited ophthalmology residency. Subspecialty training in ASOPRS-approved Oculofacial Surgery. Demonstrated medical and surgical skills in Oculofacial Surgery. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Certifications
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa. Must be board certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology within 3 years of hire. Desirable qualifications
Experience in clinical or basic science research. Experience with resident and fellow training. Experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. To apply / Contact information
