Description:

We are hiring for a Recreation Specialist to help bring energy and excitement to our community programs!

The current vacancy is in Youth & Adult Sports and will be responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of youth basketball and volleyball leagues, recreational sports classes, and adult sports tournaments. This position assists with scheduling, league administration, and working closely with coaches, officials, and participants to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for all. Description:

Under general supervision, supports the work of the Recreation Supervisor by assisting with planning, scheduling, coordinating, and participating in the work of staff responsible for implementing multiple recreation programs, activities, and services at one or more District sites; provides staff assistance to supervisory staff in areas of expertise; responds to requests and inquiries from the public; and performs related duties as assigned. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

Facilitates the delivery of daily recreational and enrichment activities; monitors recreation programming sites; prepares facilities for patron use; expedites activities at times of peak volume; obtains and delivers program materials and supplies to meet immediate needs; communicates status of activities and services to appropriate personnel; collects and evaluates activity feedback and recommends improvements.

Monitors facility logistics; ensures equipment, technology, and transportation are coordinated and available when needed; reports maintenance concerns; opens facilities and conducts safety checks; closes and secures facilities.

Documents all incidents involving injury, behavioral problems, and unusual events; communicates as appropriate to supervisor, parents, and others; assists with the development of response plans.

Addresses emergency situations; administers basic first aid and adult and/or child CPR; contacts emergency services.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education / Experience

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

Three (3) years of experience in education, recreation, or a related field, including two (2) years in the assigned recreation program area.

Licenses / Certifications

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.

Possession of, or successful acquisition within one (1) month of appointment, valid CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications, to be maintained throughout employment.
