Description
Pay Transparency: $24-25/hour (DOE) Role and Responsibilities
The Masters Swim Coach is responsible for providing a safe and encouraging environment for adult swimmers to improve their skills and techniques in the water. The coach offers a variety of training sessions tailored to different populations, including beginners, intermediates, triathletes, recreational swimmers, and competitive swimmers at high school and masters levels. Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Provide dynamic coaching and swim instruction during scheduled workouts for the Masters Swim Team. Prepare lesson plans and workouts suitable for swimmers of various levels. Organize and host one special event per month, such as swim meets, time trials, swim-a-thons/fundraisers, or social events. Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service trainings, and practice water safety skills. Adjust workouts and coaching styles to accommodate different abilities. Administer emergency care to members and guests in need. Collaborate with other departments as part of a team. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Other Functions
Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness. Promote club services and activities. Perform routine maintenance of aquatics equipment. Assist with keeping the club stocked and clean. Attend site meetings and training sessions. Handle injury, illness, and security incident reporting. Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements Previous health club personal training experience is a plus. Minimum of two years of competitive swimming experience. Ability to create workouts and develop creative programming ideas. High School Diploma or equivalent. US Masters Coaching certification required within 6 months of hire. Lifeguard certification within 90 days of hire. Detail-oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service. Strong verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results-oriented, multitasking ability, and commitment to the fitness industry. AED/CPR/First Aid certification. National Personal Training Certification(s) and modality-specific certifications as required. Proof of citizenship or legal status. Physical and Working Conditions
Responsibility for health and safety of others. Ability to stand for several hours and lift up to 25 lbs. Work in a fitness club environment. Follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards.
