Position Overview The Steward/Potwasher/Warewasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of china, glass, and silver, ensuring sanitation standards. The role involves assisting kitchen staff with cleanliness, equipment, and food storage.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness in kitchens, back dock, dumpster, and utility areas.

Perform heavy-duty cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, and refrigeration units.

Wash pots, pans, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures.

Sweep, mop, and wash floors in all food and beverage areas.

Report shortages of equipment and supplies to management.

Operate dishwashing equipment to ensure thorough cleaning and sanitation.

Store all cleaned china, glass, and silver properly to minimize breakage.

Handle chemicals safely and report faulty equipment.

Empty garbage into the hotel dumpster.

Know the location and operation of fire extinguishing equipment.

Practice safe work habits to prevent injuries.

Follow procedures for cleaning and reassembling kitchen equipment.

Assist in setting up and breaking down restaurant buffets.

Support banquet operations with necessary supplies.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Willingness to work flexible and long hours.

Ability to exert physical effort, lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Ability to stand for entire shifts and withstand temperature variations.

Maintain a friendly demeanor and effective communication skills.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and attend all required meetings and trainings.

Maintain personal appearance and grooming standards.

Comply with hotel standards and safety regulations.

Show initiative and problem-solving skills.

Cross-train in other hotel areas as needed.
