Junior Staff Scientist – Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation Team
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. , a Davey company, is seeking a full‑time entry‑level Environmental Technician to join our team in Southwest Virginia. The role provides field and task support to the Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation Team.
Responsibilities
Perform field activities including site visits, sampling, inspections, and logging of soil borings and subsurface media.
Manage assignments, analyze and interpret field‑collected data, and prepare summary reports under the supervision of a Senior Environmental Professional.
Coordinate with project managers and subject matter experts on Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and on site redevelopment and remediation activities.
Attend project meetings, fieldwork, site visits, and professional development assignments, which routinely require overnight stays throughout the region.
Allocate approximately 40% office work and 60% fieldwork.
Qualifications
Some field experience and excellent writing skills. Ability to prepare technically and grammatically correct, fully referenced documents is required.
Initiative, problem‑resolution, and team‑building mentality.
Interpersonal relationship skills with WSSI personnel at all levels.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
Bachelor’s Degree in Science (e.g., Environmental, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Biology, etc.) or related engineering discipline.
Experience managing multiple projects or assignments, and assisting with proposal development is a plus.
HAZWOPER certification or similar vocational certifications is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS/CAD mapping software is a plus.
