Duties and Responsibilities

Teach courses in the Dual Enrollment program on participating high school campuses

Develop and evaluate curricula appropriate to the different learning needs of students and develop student learning outcomes

Provide a classroom environment that promotes and stimulates learning for every student

Use current pedagogy and technologies that are effective in a diverse classroom and stay current with state agency requirements and accreditation standards

Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours

Collaborate with other program faculty and staff to use assessment techniques to maximize instructional effectiveness and student success

Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and institutional needs in a timely manner

Qualifications

Knowledge of issues pertaining to training and employment in the applicable discipline area

Experience or familiarity with development of student learning outcomes and assessment, and program review

Understanding of the role and purpose of the community college and the colleges’ mission and values

Successful experience in teaching or demonstrated preparation to teach the full range of applicable discipline courses

Experience with computer-based applications and modern teaching technologies

Skills and Abilities

Outstanding teaching ability

Ability to teach both theoretical concepts and practical skills

Proficiency in creating curricula and delivery methods that reflect department standards

Use instructional methods that emphasize cooperation, collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and interdisciplinary approaches

Motivate students from diverse backgrounds

Engage students actively and encourage critical thinking and independent learning

Job Requirements

Master's in any field of engineering OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology OR the equivalent (see note). A bachelor's in engineering with a professional engineer's license is an alternative qualification for this discipline

Demonstrated cultural competence and understanding of diverse student backgrounds to support equity-minded practice
