Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor
Provides individual counseling to highly complex patients Conducts clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient’s treatment needs Designs and updates the patient’s treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning Manages assigned caseload and compliance with clinical treatment requirements Collaborates with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services Facilitates urine drug screening for patients

Clinic Schedule:
Winchester: Mon. 11 am - 1:30 pm; Thurs. 9 am - 12 pm
Harrisonburg: Mon 4pm-6pm; Wed. 11 am-4 pm; Fri. 12:30pm-5:30pm
Position Requirements:
The most qualified candidates will possess the following:
Must hold a Resident in Counseling, LPC, LSATP or LCSW, CSAC License in the state of Virginia. Must have at least one year of experience as a substance abuse counselor. Experience treating opioid-addicted patients is not a requirement but is preferred. No legal impediments to serving in a licensed opiate treatment program. Must have a valid driver's license. If recovering, three years of continuous verifiable abstinence is required.

Clear, climbable structure into Counselor levels (1, 2, 3) based on the certification or license held Targeted caseload. Caseloads follow state regulations and can range from 40-55 patients.
