Purpose and Scope:

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the college and community educational environment. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning. Adjunct Status:

Adjunct (part-time) faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon system needs. Applications for part-time teaching are accepted year-round. Hiring is based on student demand, with day, evening, and weekend classes offered at various times and locations. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year as a general guideline. Essential Job Functions

Teaches Cybersecurity courses at a variety of times and locations Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines Meets with and advises students before/after class or by appointment, via electronic communication or other appropriate methods Evaluates students to measure progress and informs students of their progress in a timely manner Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Mastery of course content Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to diversity and ability to work with a wide variety of people Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning Commitment to academic excellence, service and lifelong learning Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology Ability to engage students with effective strategies Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. The employee typically sits comfortably to do the work, with possible walking, standing, bending, light items handling, or driving. No special physical demands are required. Work Schedule and Conditions

Equipment includes PC workstation, calculator, phone and general office equipment, plus discipline-specific equipment Interaction with internal and external contacts as needed Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab with minimal safety hazards Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available to students outside of class Required Qualifications

Master’s in information technology, cybersecurity, electrical/computer engineering or related field and at least three (3) years of work experience in the field or post-secondary teaching Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in the field Higher education teaching experience in Cybersecurity or related field Salary
