Customer Service - Ensure consistent customer service, establishing a good rapport with customers. Assist customers with selection and purchases. Work with staff and volunteers to maintain customer service standards through direct contact with customers. Daily Operations - Operate business machines (cash register, fax, credit card, copier, computer) and troubleshoot routine problems with basic business equipment. Assist volunteers in the daily operation of the Gift Shop. Answer the phone, take and deliver phone orders using excellent phone skills. Record daily sales and report any discrepancies in the receipts or bank to management. Responsible for closing cash registers and the necessary paperwork including the reconciliation of cash receipts and deposits. Involvement in fiscal inventory process, responsible for pre count, pre count analysis of department inventory and discrepancy reconciliation. Merchandising and Shipment Processing - Restock merchandise and maintain desired cleanliness in the stock areas. Management of packing slips on merchandise received, managing damage reporting and back orders. May enter all incoming merchandise in the POS/Inventory management system checking for price/cost and margin discrepancies. Work with buyers to coordinate incoming merchandise. Maintain supply levels on shop supplies such as wrap, boxes, tissue, bags, register tape, etc. Maintain backstock for the displays established by the Shop Manager and Buyers. Assist with Gift Shop special events. Coordinate with CCHMC departments involving Security, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Shipping. Assist buyer in merchandise selection. May be asked to place orders and work directly with vendors. Lead merchandise movement and display and maintain awareness of customer merchandise preferences via inquiries. May be asked to attend industry trade shows and buying meetings. Stay current on industry trends. Confidentiality - Act in a manner that maintains confidentiality, protects and safeguards patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use and storage.
