Role overview: The Senior Officer, Individual Philanthropy in the New York Region is responsible for securing major gifts from new and existing donors in the New York tri-state area to support Save the Children’s mission. This is a local, work-from-home role with regular visits to Save the Children’s head office in Fairfield, CT. You will steward donors in a tri-state portfolio and prospect new high-capacity donors, implementing fundraising strategies that may include a capital campaign, events, and a robust major gift pipeline. You will build relationships with donor intermediaries such as DAFs, wealth advisors, and family offices. Location : Hybrid – Fairfield, CT office; located in or near New York City. What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Donor Relationship Management (40%): develop, cultivate and steward existing donor relationships to increase engagement and giving; partner with the Senior Managing Director to execute regional fundraising strategy; develop fundraising plans including donor meetings, exclusive cultivation events and program visits; work with local trustees, senior leadership and regional champions to deepen engagement; participate in capital campaigns to increase donor participation; stay up to date on internal research and fundraising opportunities to prepare strategy, proposals, and briefing materials; maintain accurate donor records in the fundraising database and track progress with reports. Donor Prospecting (40%): identify prospects with capacity to make five-, six-, or seven-figure gifts; engage local trustees and leadership to facilitate introductions; develop relationships with donor intermediaries (DAFs, wealth advisors, philanthropic advisors, estate planners, family offices); create and execute cultivation and solicitation strategies leveraging capital campaigns, events, and program visits; represent Save the Children at local events and conferences. Strategic Stakeholder Engagement (20%): build trusted relationships with Save the Children leaders, trustees, donors, and community members; collaborate with Partnerships & Philanthropy and Planned Giving teams; tailor proposals and materials for this donor audience; work with stakeholders across the organization to raise support for our mission; promote thought leadership events and lead special projects as needed. Required Qualifications For The Role
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; at least seven (7) years of relevant experience. Experience cultivating donor portfolios and prospecting new donors to increase revenues. Knowledge of the tri-state area philanthropic community, including DAFs, wealth and philanthropic advisors, estate planners and family offices. Successful track record managing portfolios that generate five-, six- and seven-figure gifts and planned gifts. Knowledge of major gift fundraising moves management; ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders; strong listening and storytelling skills; creative problem-solving; ability to travel regionally, nationally and occasionally internationally. Ability to work independently from a home office with private and confidential conversations; willingness to travel as needed; strong organizational skills and experience stewarding donor databases and records; proficiency in MS Office and English. Preferred Qualifications For The Role
Experience with Blackbaud CRM donor software; experience with capital campaigns and planned giving; understanding of domestic and global humanitarian and development issues. Compensation
Salary ranges vary by location. For this role, the salary for New York Metro and similar high-cost areas is noted as $93,000 – $162,000 base, with a target range of $130,000 – $155,000 base.
