To provide each DCS student with the opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities that will foster the physical skills, the knowledge of the pleasure of sports and the principles of fair play to help them understand God’s will for their lives. Responsibilities
Leading and Developing Coaches
Provide leadership in the recruitment, assignment, and evaluation of coaches. Plan, execute, and evaluate coaches training program. Serve as “the coaches coach” fostering a culture of growth and development within all athletic programs, starting with the coach and extending to the student athlete.
Administrative
Organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular interscholastic athletics for DCS. Assume responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events. Hire officials, team physicians/trainers as required. Assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games. Arrange transportation for athletic contestants. Arrange provision for meals for athletes and coaches when necessary. Develop and implement appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic contests. Enforce the physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport, and verify each athlete’s eligibility. Provide for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season. Keep records of the results of all school athletic contests, and maintain a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships. Coordinate the posting of sports information on the website. Plan and supervise an annual recognition program for athletes. Ensure the school is in compliance with all state interscholastic regulations and policies. Ensure athletic fields are properly lined and maintained; ensure gymnasiums are safe and clean; ensure the DCHS gymnasium is ready for athletic competitions; ensure DCS athletic facilities comply with Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association regulations and policies.
Financial
Prepare and administer the athletic program budget. Requisition supplies, uniforms, and equipment for the athletic program in cooperation with appropriate staff members. Supervise all ticket sales and fund-raising events connected with the athletic program, and handle monies appropriately. Arrange all details of visiting teams’ needs while on DCS campuses; arrange use of non-school playing fields and facilities; arrange practice schedules for coaches.

Maintain confidence in and hope for the success of every athlete, coach, and program. Speak to the heart of the coach and athlete while holding them accountable. Prayfully maintain a lifestyle that demonstrates a commitment to Christ. Communicate clearly and frequently with athletes, coaches, parents, and coworkers.
Growth
Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and supportive of the athletic program. Actively promote the program in the community. Participate, as needed, in personal professional development activities. Participate as a member of the DCS Leadership team to contribute vision and strategy for the future growth of DCS athletics.
