Overview

We are seeking a part-time English Teacher for grades 5–8 to provide focused instruction in writing, grammar, and language mechanics. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the English language, strong pedagogical skills in writing instruction, and a desire to form students intellectually and morally through a Catholic worldview. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who values structured writing, clear communication, and classical pedagogy centered on virtue and human flourishing. Curriculum & Instruction

Teach English classes to students in grades 5–8 with a focus on writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and style. Instruct students using methods aligned with classical and structured writing pedagogy. Provide explicit instruction in sentence construction, paragraph development, and multi-paragraph compositions across genres (narrative, expository, persuasive). Reinforce proper usage, punctuation, and mechanics in all writing. Guide students in oral and written communication that is clear, beautiful, and truthful. Classroom Culture

Maintain a classroom environment that is disciplined, joyful, and attentive to truth. Promote habits of clarity, precision, and order in both spoken and written language. Establish high expectations for academic integrity and personal character. Assessment & Communication

Evaluate student progress through regular written assignments and grammar assessments. Provide clear, constructive feedback to support growth in communication and writing. Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents as needed. Collaboration & Formation

Collaborate with Logic School teachers to ensure curriculum alignment and coherence. Participate in occasional faculty meetings, professional development, and school liturgies. Support the school’s mission to form students in both academic excellence and Christian virtue. Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Experience teaching writing and grammar in a classical or Catholic setting is highly valued. Familiarity with structured writing programs and traditional grammar instruction preferred. Skills & Dispositions

Strong writing and language skills with the ability to model excellent communication. Joyful, practicing Christian who seeks to witness the faith in word and deed. Ability to manage a middle school classroom with consistency, kindness, and clarity. Enthusiasm for classical education and the formation of young minds. Preferred

Experience with classical writing programs. Familiarity with the stages of classical learning, especially the logic stage (grades 5–8). Willingness to learn and implement classical methods under mentorship and training. Personal Qualities
