Job Description The Senior Arborist will lead a variety of urban forestry and arboriculture projects. This full-time, mid- to senior-level position offers the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting both public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8+ years of professional experience, hold an ISA Certified Arborist credential, and possess a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. A strong background in tree health and risk assessment, tree inventories, tree appraisal, and urban forest management is essential. This role involves contributing to arboricultural development planning, street tree management strategies, and comprehensive urban forest management initiatives. Position located in either Kirkland or Seattle office. Primary Responsibilities Perform tree assessments and inventories in ornamental landscapes, street trees and the built environment, and natural area restoration and mitigation projects. Procure, scope, and budget small and large arborist consulting jobs for public and private clients. Manage multiple projects, delegating tasks as necessary to our 10-person arborist staff. Coordinate arborist tasks and project elements with our natural resources, planning, engineering, and landscape architecture project managers. Conduct Tree Risk Assessments and develop associated risk mitigation plans and reports. Write arborist reports for public and private clients. Review and comprehend civil, architectural, and landscape architectural plans, details, and specifications for management and protection of trees. Provide tree valuations and appraisals. Prepare tree preservation plans and specifications. Develop tree maintenance and management plans. Monitor and document tree and root zone impacts and protection during construction administration. Qualifications Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science, or related field preferred. 8+ years of professional experience in arboriculture, urban forestry, or related field. ISA Certified Arborist or equivalent accreditation (RPF, ASCA) required. ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) required. Strong tree species identification skills and ability to assess tree health, defects, diseases, and structural risk. Knowledge of tree care and maintenance in urban landscapes and natural restoration sites. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage effectively with clients, land managers, and the public. Proven ability to serve as a knowledgeable and professional field representative. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. Preferred Qualifications ISA Board Certified Master Arborist or ISA Utility/Municipal Specialist credential. Experience developing project scopes and budgets based on client needs. Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, and GPS for tree inventory and mapping. Background in arboriculture consulting for construction, civil engineering, or utilities a plus. Strong leadership, organization, and project management skills.
