Uncommon High School Math teachers work in grade teams and content teams to push students towards being self-guided learners. Our teachers become experts in their course content, and have a keen sense of how to motivate and inspire high school students. At the heart of all math classes is a deep joy for mathematics. Math teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to cultivate student awareness of how to make sense of, persevere through, and solve problems. At the conclusion of high school, students are prepared for academic autonomy and college preparatory work. Job Description

Instruction: Teach math curriculum to high school students, including Algebra, Geometry, or Calculus, and prepare them for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate level coursework. Support students as they solve problems and think critically. Foster confidence and meaningful engagement with mathematics. Cultivate the ability to construct and justify viable arguments using reasoning, math vocabulary, tools, and postulates. Build a community of self-guided learners where students feel safe, confident, and engaged. Work with the Math department to determine academic and engagement goals for students. Responsibilities

Meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments. Learn and implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in your classroom. Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard. Partner with students’ families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs. Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions. Participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community, model our core values, and encourage student achievement. Qualifications

A demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development. An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students. A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives. Required Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred, with academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or other related fields. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with certification not required but meeting NY state certification eligibility requirements. Additional Information
