Purpose of Role The Lead of Global Merchandise Planning, Youth Apparel manages and creates financial targets across global markets, driving alignment with Under Armour’s financial goals, market demands, and product creation. This role optimizes profitability sustainably for the Youth Apparel business across diverse geographic regions through analysis of sales trends, product, marketing, and regional strategies in partnership with product/merchant teams. The Lead drives transparency and visibility of the health of the business and supports decision making around revenue, margin, and inventory strategies.
Your Impact
Develop and implement financial plans for assigned categories and regions. Align plans with global targets, regional consumer trends, and macroeconomic factors. Guide team members in the planning process.
Collaborate with global product, regional planning counterparts, and other departments such as marketing, finance to ensure financial plans are aligned and support overall business objectives.
Create top‑line targets for sales growth, demand, style/sku counts, and $ productivity by category for each GTM season. Drive top‑down strategies across divisions, departments and classes.
Partner closely with global product teams, providing strategic financial input into assortment development and product creation to ensure profitability and alignment with market demand.
Collaborate closely with Global Product to provide financial and analytical input into slot planning, product creation/design, and assortment optimization.
Lead hindsight analysis by providing recommendations based on financial performance and trends. Utilize insights to influence future assortment and product strategies.
Monitor financial performance across regions and categories, addressing variances and proposing strategies to meet financial targets.
Collaborate with regional planning teams, marketing and finance departments to ensure that financial plans integrate seamlessly with the overall business strategy. Act as a key liaison for financial planning integration.
Utilize advanced analytics and AI tools to derive deeper financial insights. Drive the use of data to improve accuracy and strategic decision‑making across the business.
Communicate complex data insights and algorithm‑driven findings to non‑technical stakeholders, aligning cross‑functional priorities and influencing decision‑making at all levels.
Proficiency in data analysis and advanced visualization tools to guide strategic initiatives and solve complex business challenges.
Foster collaboration and team development whilst ensuring alignment with organizational and team goals to drive successful outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in channel planning, marketing, or a related role.
Experience in the apparel or footwear industry is preferred.
Proficient in merchandise financial planning, scenario planning, and long‑range forecasting using market trends, financial plans, consumer insights, and historical data.
Proficient in conducting comprehensive financial analyses and generating detailed reports that drive strategic decision‑making.
Strong ability to collaborate across teams and expertly communicate complex data insights and algorithm‑driven findings to non‑technical stakeholders, aligning cross‑functional priorities and ensuring understanding across diverse teams.
Skilled in data analysis and proficient with visualization tools to create insights and drive decision‑making.
Proficient in Blue Yonder or other major planning tools.
Strong communication & change‑readiness skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders, and communicate complex concepts clearly to senior leaders.
Workplace Location
Location: Individual must reside within commuting distance from Baltimore, MD office or global headquarters.
Return To Work Designation: Hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in‑office per week.
Travel: 5–10% of the year.
