Recreation Assistant (Sailing Instructor) – Rainbow Bay Marina
Join the U.S. Navy Family Readiness (FFR) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. The Recreation Assistant provides instruction on boating safety, sailing, and windsurfing for Navy families and community members.
Responsibilities
Prepares lesson plans for sailing instruction for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
Teaches private one‑on‑one and group lessons with no more than 12 students per class.
Teaches basic sailing skills, rules of the road, sail maintenance, lines, safety equipment, storm signals, navigational aids, and buoys.
Provides accurate sailing/windsurfing instructions through individual and group lessons.
Works under general supervision of Outdoor Recreation Manager and follows departmental guidelines.
Qualifications
Must demonstrate proficiency in sailing and windsurfing.
Knowledge of navigational aids, water safety, lifesaving, and first aid principles and practices.
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to instruct clearly.
Must be willing to work weekends, nights and holidays.
Must pass all applicable records and background check and E‑Verify employment verification check.
Benefits Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Military service and disability precedential pay may be considered.
