Full-time Master Mariner Instructor – Join Our Team! Shape the Next Generation of Naval Leaders with LB&B Associates Inc. We are seeking dedicated and dynamic on-call Master Mariner Instructors to join our team in Hawaii. LB&B Associates Inc., a leader in Contractor Instructional Services for US Navy Navigational Seamanship Ship-Handling Training (NSST), delivers classroom and simulator instruction to U.S. Navy personnel. As an on-call Master Mariner Instructor, you will deliver a combination of classroom and simulator instruction to U.S. Navy personnel, focusing on navigation, seamanship, and ship handling. You’ll also engage in curriculum development for emerging courses such as Junior Officers of the Deck (Underway) and Officers of the Deck (Underway). Your expertise and mentorship will directly influence the readiness and proficiency of America’s naval fleet. Responsibilities
Deliver classroom and simulator instruction in navigation, seamanship, and ship handling to U.S. Navy personnel. Engage in curriculum development for emerging courses (e.g., Junior Officers of the Deck Underway, Officers of the Deck Underway). Contribute to ongoing instruction quality and readiness of Navy personnel at LB&Bôs training center in Hawaii. Qualifications
Extensive seagoing leadership as a former senior Navy surface ship commanding officer (minimum 3 years in command, at sea) or as a USCG licensed master (any gross tons, oceans) with a minimum of 3 years at sea as a ship’s master. At least 2 years of experience conducting training and assessment with full mission or part-task bridge simulators, or completion of a USCG-accepted Train the Trainer program (IMO model course 6.09), and completion of A-061-0042 VMS Operator Course, A-061-0044 VMS 9 Operator, or an approved equivalent. Expert-level knowledge of NSS subject areas, NSS TRD, NAVDORM, standard Navy conning commands, maritime education best practices, and maneuvering characteristics for all ship classes. Strong computer literacy and the ability to master advanced maritime simulator software and tools. Practical understanding of adult learning principles and instructional best practices.
