The

Research Technician

performs routine, technical, and administrative duties to support research activities. Responsibilities include specimen collection, equipment maintenance, data analysis, report writing, and working independently or as part of a team under general supervision. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and adherence to instructions. Key Responsibilities

Set up and perform experiments, interact with staff and students. Prepare reports, manuscripts, and documents. Maintain and order laboratory equipment and supplies. Ensure compliance with regulatory policies. Maintain laboratory instruments and support customer training. Conduct advanced laboratory protocols and handle instrumentation. Collect data, input into databases, and assist with data analysis. Respond courteously to queries from patients, faculty, and sponsors. Accurately record effort and manage data for research presentations/publications. Collaborate with clinical research team to meet regulatory and operational objectives. Build and maintain relationships with colleagues and contacts at affiliate sites. Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of laboratory techniques including blood processing, pipetting, and equipment maintenance. Proficiency with various instruments, techniques, and protocols. Accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently, multi-task, and handle human samples. Good computer, communication, and interpersonal skills. Relevant lab or clinical research experience, including handling experiments on mice. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemistry or Biology, or equivalent experience. Experience with research and clinical trials. Training in Dangerous Goods/IATA, familiarity with RedCap, Microsoft Excel, and VCUHealth. Additional Details

Physical demands include light to medium lifting, fast-paced work, and frequent customer interactions. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a salary range of $34,900-$52,400. The role is non-exempt and not eligible for ORP. Continued employment depends on project needs, funds, and performance.
