Role The Research Associate will work within and support Octus’ Americas Covenants team. The role will focus on (but is not limited to) providing research support on US leveraged finance and high yield markets to members of the Covenants team. The role is ideal for someone who has experience working in the leveraged finance, capital markets, and/or restructuring fields. Recent Juris Doctorates also will be considered for this role. This will be a hybrid role based in the New York office for an enthusiastic person who has a desire to learn and thrives in a growing, dynamic environment. Responsibilities Support the Octus Americas Covenants team, composed of experienced lawyers covering the US leveraged loans and high yield bonds markets Establish deep working knowledge of all aspects of Octus’ Global Covenants offering, including people, process, and technology Assist Americas Covenants in drafting primary and secondary legal intelligence concerning leveraged loans and high yield bonds Research and draft editorial content relating to US leveraged loans, high yield bonds, liability management exercises, event driven catalysts, and other topics, in each case with guidance from the Americas Covenants team Check facts, proof read, and edit documents to ensure accuracy Proactively support sales and marketing efforts for the Americas Covenants team, including helping to organize webinars, events, and training (attending where necessary) Lead or assist with various administrative and operational projects, as needed Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (business, finance, or a related field) 2+ years working in a research role or equivalent work experience, ideally in the financial services, professional services, or legal industries Previous experience in leveraged finance, high yield, capital markets, or restructuring is a plus Strong writing and analytical skills Intermediate Excel and Powerpoint skills, with the ability to distill and communicate complex, information-dense content in an easily digestible and visually appealing way Familiarity with using AI tools (such as Chat GPT or Claude) is a plus Demonstrable interest in finance, capital markets, and related legal industries Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail Proactive and collaborative team player, with eagerness to learn and work with multiple stakeholders Ability to multi-task and ability to prioritize effectively among multiple tasks Octus is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other legally protected status.
