Tue Sep 23 2025 The Department of Physics at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in experimental biophysics. Research areas include but are not limited to Medical Physics, Molecular and Structural Biophysics, Imaging and Biophysical Methods, Cellular Biophysics, Quantum Biology, etc. Applicants in all areas of experimental studies of biological systems with quantitative physical approaches are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are expected to develop productive research programs, mentor and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to direct Ph.D. dissertations. Anticipated start date is fall 2026.

Responsibilities

Develop productive research programs in experimental biophysics.

Mentor and teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Direct Ph.D. dissertations and contribute to the Physics Graduate Program.

Engage in team-based research within the Department of Physics and expand collaborative efforts.

Engage in outreach activities and contribute to service at the Department, College, and University levels.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Physics or related fields.

Postdoctoral experience and a strong record of research accomplishments.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Willingness to engage in service, outreach, and contribute to the Department, College, and University.

Appointment Details Anticipated start date: fall 2026. The university has committed to support these positions with generous start-up funds.
