Under the direct supervision of the Chief of College Police, shall be responsible for the service, safety, and security of all College properties, faculty, staff, students, guests, and visitors during the assigned tour of duty. Prevention and suppression of crime Protection of life and property Development, implementation, and supervision of assigned areas of public safety specialties Preservation of the peace Enforcement of state, local, and federal laws and College regulations Apprehension, investigation and prosecution of offenders Perform other related duties as assigned Education
High School graduate or equivalent and current M.C.O.L.E.S. certification or the ability to be certified prior to hire. Experience And Qualifications
Two years of law enforcement experience as a certified sworn police officer preferred. The Police Officer upon being hired will be certified as a duly sworn Police Officer by the Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) under Senate bills 614 and 758 as adopted by the Michigan State Legislature in 1998 granting him/her full law enforcement powers on properties of Macomb Community College. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Must be a citizen of the United States; Have weight proportional to height; Possess both vision and hearing that satisfies the hiring requirements of preemployment medical testing as set forth by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Disqualifications
Have not been convicted of a violation of criminal law Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs Three moving violations in the 24 months previous to application Qualifying Examinations
A physical strength and agility test A written and oral exam A medical examination A background investigation covering an evaluation of employment, school, home, medical, credit, criminal, driving and/or other personal records Must have some familiarity with the basic purposes and philosophy of a college public safety operation Must have a general knowledge of local, state, and federal laws relating to college public safety operations Must be (and appear to be) mature, level headed and calm in difficult situations Will be required to work weekends and holidays when directed Hours, days, and campus assignments may vary Working Hours And/or Working Conditions

Supervision received: Reports to Chief of College Police and takes direction from Command Officers. Supervision given: Direct operations at scene of incidents. May direct part-time department personnel. Seniority level
